Master Pastelist Toni Lindahl emphasizes movement, patterns, light and shadow in her paintings. Her pastels are diverse in subject matter, ranging from florals and figurative work to landscapes. She has used her work to explore her interest in environmental issues through her studies of tropical leaves.
Lindahl likes to communicate a sense of mystery through contrasting surfaces, movement, and a variety of leaf patterns. As she showcases the way sunlight plays on petals and leaves she is aware of the many small compositions lurking within. Her florals convey a “landscape within a landscape.”
Toni Lindahl holds a Masters Degree from New York University and has resided in North Carolina for thirty-two years. Her pastels have won numerous awards in national juried exhibitions. She is a member of Greenhill Center for North Carolina Art, The North Carolina Pastel Society, Associated Artists of Winston-Salem, The Degas Pastel Society and was awarded the title of Master Pastelist from the Pastel Society of America and is included in Who’s Who in American Art.
