I have been drawing and painting since childhood. I began my artistic career in Deland Florida; in a warehouse full of furniture. I learned to paint on cupboards, birdhouses, desks and pool tables. I also had the opportunity to paint murals. This was an incredible experience for growth in my work.
In 2010 I illustrated my first children’s book, “The Giraffe Who Walked to Paris” written by Dirk Wales. A few years later I illustrated a second children’s book for Dr. Winnie King, “The Adventures of Peanut and Penelope”.
I have since then shared my love for art and creativity with children by teaching classes at the South Lake Art League Gallery in Clermont, Florida. For five years I shared all I knew about drawing. I laughed with them and showed them they were capable of much more than they realized!
In 2014 I came across a gorgeous painting of one of Rita Kirkman’s cows! This sparked a passion to learn the pastel medium. For four years I worked with pastels teaching myself.
In 2018 my family moved to North Carolina. With a fresh start I focused on creating a body of work. Most recently, I became a member of the Pastel Society of America. I joined Pastel Society of North Carolina, and Piedmont Pastel Society. I am also a new member of the Chatham Artists Guild.
