Rita Kirkman had a painting accepted into the IAPS 2022 Exhibition, 8th Masters Circle Division. The 2022 IAPS PastelWorld Exhibition will take place at the 2022 IAPS Convention in Albuquerque, NM, USA from June 22-25, 2022.
Rita has also won the Gold Award in the Established Artist Division of the Austin Pastel Society Spring Non-Juried Exhibition with her painting “Seeking Social Sheep” (pastel, 30×40″)

The show continues at Artworks Gallery in Austin TX through June 11.

Rita will send you the Zoom invitation, some reference photos (or you can use your own) and materials suggestions.
Rita will be using pastel with an acrylic-based underpainting or a variety of pastel papers, but you can use the medium of your choice.
Rita has had some attendees enjoy use oil, acrylic, pastel pencil, and even watercolor with her paint-alongs. Plenty of instruction will focus on values and temperature which are universal to all color mediums. The paint-along will start at 1pm Central Time and will last about 2 hours.
All registrants will receive a link to the video a few days later, so if you have to miss part, no worries!

Rita will send you the Zoom invitation, the reference photo, some surface prep info, some tips that include alternative underpainting methods in case you don’t have what she uses, and even a line drawing that you can use to transfer to your board or paper in case you don’t have time to freehand your drawing. No drawing skills required!

Rita Kirkman’s painting “Young Diana” (pastel, 12×9 in) is included in the Pastel Society of Southeast Texas 2022 Members Show, at the Arts for Rural Texas at 114 N Live Oak St in Fayetteville.
Opening Reception and Awards Presentation on March 12, 4-6pm.
The exhibit will continue through May 21, 2022.

Bev’s Fine Art The Centerpiece Gallery is featuring Pastel Artist BF Reed for the February Spotlight Show Opening on Thursday, February 17th from 5-8pm at the gallery.
Anyone can join us and marvel at the alluring pastel works of BF Reed, you can meet her, and there will also be light refreshments served.

I am pleased to announce that my pastel, A Pawleys Autumn, is included in the Resolutions 2022 exhibit of the Hillsborough Gallery of Arts.

Additionally, I am pleased to announce the opening of an exhibit of my pastels and watercolors titled Journey at the Page-Walker Arts and History Center next to the Town Hall in Cary, N.C. The exhibit runs through February 12, 2022. Although the reception planned for January 28, 2022 will not be held due to the resurgence of COVID, the Center is open for visits during regular business hours. I hope you will stop by and see the exhibit!
This exhibit features 33 paintings in pastel and watercolor. The subjects of my works express experiences of moments within journeys.

Latest Works
Short Stop’s Mitt and Ball: 9×11 charcoal and pastel drawing. This short stop’s mitt and baseball have been sitting on my husband’s dresser for a very long time. An occasion for a still life if there ever was one.
Old Dairy Road: 5.5×9″ soft pastel loose sketch. Exhibited at Captain White’s House – The Alamance Art Center 2021. Every morning, Brownie and Maggie and I walk this old dirt road. The original settler family had a dairy at the end of this road. History, art and a dog walk – all together – life is good.
Farm Textures: 12×18″ hard pastel. Exhibited at Captain White’s House – The Alamance Art Center in Autumn 2021. Old Basket, bricks, branches and black wasps from our farm. The bricks are from an 1850’s building razed in 2015. They are called “clinkers” because they were over baked.
