In 2015 I was inspired with the pastel medium. This began a whole new chapter for my future as a pastel artist. As a young child I had a passion for drawing and creating things. People would request me to paint on wood, gourds, slate, glass jars, ceramics etc.. I was always busy making and selling art work for people and local stores. After retiring my husband and I moved to Southport, NC November of 2017. I joined North Carolina Pastel Societies and met other artist who loved working with pastels. During this time I’ve been taking multiple workshops with master pastelist, reading stacks of pastel journals, studying books and DVD’s from prominent artists. Doing photo shots and setting up still life props. I’ve developed an instinctual appreciation, passion, and love for the world I live in. The child artist in me began to express those feelings and ideas on art paper. In the last five years I have received local, statewide, national, and international awards. I have learned how to frame my own art work as well. The Art world doesn’t stop at the easel, it’s experimenting with different tools, learning compositions, lighting, sales, and technology.
