Luminosity in Snow Scenes by Anne Kiefaber
To Anne, painting snow is all about light, reflections and the feeling she remembers after viewing the scene. In her demonstration she shared different processes she employs to create stunning snow scenes in pastels. These techniques can be applied to other subject matter as well.
Anne worked from an oil study and incorporated her experience in plein air painting into her lesson. After doing an underpainting in gouache she demonstrated how this technique can enhance the properties of pastel and enable the artist to achieve a beautiful luminosity which is vital when painting a snow landscape.
