Ideas, Techniques for Creating Water Scenes, presentation by Chris Powell, PSA
Pastel Society of America signature member Chris Powell presented her ideas, process and techniques for creating a water painting in pastel. Content and composition including lighting, balance, Golden Section, contrast, edges, values and color harmony using the Munsell Color System was explored. She demonstrated building texture to express the splash and foam of water and how to safely transport an unframed pastel painting using a foamboard box and how to stretch Wallis Paper when toning with an acrylic wash.
