Teresa Saia: 3-Day Workshop and Demonstration/Business Lecture

A 3 DAY STUDIO WORKSHOP – May 13, 14, 15
(Hours from 9am-4pm (Break for lunch on your own.) (Class Limit: 15)
Location: The Art Shop, 3900 W. Market Street, Greensboro, NC (336-855-8500)

EXPRESSIONS OF LIGHT: CREATING DRAMATIC, DYNAMIC LANDSCAPES
This workshop will focus on the basics for creating dramatic, dynamic, timeless landscapes: value, composition and simplifying shapes into strong abstract design. Color relationships, edges, temperature of light will be discussed, as well as the application of value sketches and atmospheric perspective for stronger statements in your paintings. Also to be discussed: creating a passionate approach to your subject matter, evoking a more interactive response with the viewer.

LECTURE (THE BUSINESS SIDE OF ART) BY TERESA SAIA

Hours: 10am – 12pm
(Lunch is included if you sign up for both the lecture and the demonstration)
Teresa Saia will be discussing the business side of art. Covering such topics as gallery representation and other means of selling art, weekend exhibits, commissions, advertising, framing, pricing, websites, networking and other business topics.

Hours: 1pm – 3pm
Explaining her technique and approach, Teresa’s demonstrations are in depth and developed. She often chooses to work with photos she has not previously used, allowing the participants to watch as she works through and resolves different issues during the painting process.

March 13 – Liz Haywood Sullivan

Landscape demos on painting sunlight and shadow and the concept of underpainting using three values of blue for the shadows and three values of yellow for sunlight.
