From vibrant, broken color in pastels to spontaneous alcohol ink painting, I enjoy creating representational art that plays between light and form and blurs foreground and background. Pastels were my first artistic medium and after 13 years of painting and teaching alcohol inks, it is an incredible pleasure to return to them.
My work is largely impressionistic with influences of my favorite painters, Caillebotte, Renoir and Monet. I favor landscapes and seascapes but also enjoy painting bridges and local architecture. My educational background is in Art History (BA) and Community Leadership (MS), and I am the author of the book 20 Projects for Alcohol Inks. I spend my time at home in Sanford, NC and on our sailboat, Meridian, in the Chesapeake Bay.
My work (and numerous free Alcohol Ink lessons) may be found at www.karenwalkerfineart.com. Happy painting!
