Janet Johnson

As an avid artist, photographer and nature lover, I meld these passions into works of art done in soft pastels.

I began experimenting with pastels in the summer of 2016 and the passion for this medium has consumed me. I fell in love with the glorious colors, and the feeling of creating by directly holding the medium in my fingers prompts a feeling of youthful exuberance and coloring abandon.

I work out of the Artworks Art Village, 200 Willard St. in Wilmington, a community of over 50 artist studios. Several of my fellow artists have commented that I have found my medium, or perhaps it has found me. I also sell my work out of the Artshak Gallery, 822 N. Howe St. in Southport.

Over this past year, I have sold pieces out of the Artworks and Artshak, and have won two First place awards, a Third place and a People’s Choice Award in area art shows and plein air paint-outs. I am excited to grow and expand my art experiences.
