Originally from Northeast Ohio, Debbie Corina moved to Hillsborough, NC in 2009, where she rediscovered her passion for drawing and painting. With a background in detailed graphite work Debbie was inspired to explore color as a means of expressing mood and personality. Pastel affords an immediacy that other mediums do not, enabling her to decisively make important marks. The medium is also forgiving enough, that a piece may be easily reworked if the vision for that piece changes. Debbie is self-taught, and enjoys learning from, and networking with other artists, such as Christine Swann, Lisa Ober, Rita Kirtkman, Alain Picard, Karen Margulis, and Rick Stevens. She particularly enjoys painting subjects that are close to her heart…bringing them to life on paper with the luminous versatility of soft pastels. Debbie has been painting commissioned portraits for the past 10 years, but is looking forward to excavating her true voice by exploring other subjects.
