We’ll start with simple, abstracted underpaintings to build a strong foundation. Learn to crop photos for effective compositions, look at water’s reflective qualities and explore how light, motion and what lies beneath all affect what we see, and what we paint. “It’s All About Intent”
Making a connection between your painting and a viewer requires a clear idea of what you actually want your painting to say. Focusing on Intent can help you say it eloquently.
FREE Demo (40 seats available}
10:00 am to 12:30 pm
My demo will show you how intent shapes almost every decision I make with my painting process. My focusing on the intent of my painting, what I want to say, I become clear about everything from format and composition to color palette. I’ll bring along an underpainting and will discuss how I make choices during the painting process.
Mini-Workshop (12 spaces available)
$45 reserved/paid in advance
1:30 pm – 4:30 pm
In the afternoon mini-workshop, each student will be required to bring along either a failed painting or a painting that is giving him or her trouble. By using the failed painting as reference material, I’ll guide you through the process of evaluating the work and re-focusing on what’s important. Our goal will be to make a new painting that is more focused and expressive.
