Third Cary Gallery of Artists’ Plein Air Paint Out

Where: Historic Downtown Cary (maps of painting area available at the gallery)

When: Friday, Sept. 30 or Saturday, October 1, 2011 9 5. Pick your day!

How: Registration Forms are available at the gallery, 200 S. Academy St., Suite 120, Cary or on our website www.carygalleryofartists.org. Mail form & check for $20.00 registration fee to: Cary Gallery of Artists, 200 S. Academy St, Suite 120, Cary 27511.

IMPORTANT DATES:

September 27: Deadline for $20.00 pre-registration; Walk-In Registration accepted on date of paint out : $25.00

September 30 or October 1: Paint Out: Artists choose which day to participate.

Sign in at the gallery (200 S. Academy St) and have the backs of your painting surfaces stamped. You may have 2 surfaces stamped but only 1 may be submitted at the close of the paint out. Size limit: SURFACE SIZE 11 x 14, frames 3″ max.

9:00am-5:00pm
Painting in designated areas

3:00-5:30pm
Deliver framed, ready to hang paintings (gallery wrapped canvases with no staples showing may be used) to the gallery

October 3 – Oct 10
Judging of work CGA Judges

October 14, 6:00-8:00pm
Wine and cheese reception and monetary awards presented.

October 26 & 27
11:30-5:30 paintings must be picked up at Cary Gallery of Artists

Open to all artists, for all two-dimensional media except photography. All work must be done en plein air, on the selected day of the paint out in areas as designated on the map. Only one painting will be accepted for the show though you may get two surfaces stamped. Acrylic and oil paintings must be suitably framed or gallery wrapped. Watercolors and pastels must be framed under glass or plexiglass. All frames must have proper hardware (i.e., wires, not saw tooth hangers). Paintings must be priced and have the painting location listed on the back.

Paintings must be available for sale and remain in the gallery until OCTOBER 26. The Gallery will collect a 40% commission on any sales. Any paintings left beyond October 27, 2011 will become the property of Cary Gallery of Artists. All reasonable care will be taken with the artwork, but Cary Gallery of Artists assumes no responsibility for damage done to artwork, nor any liability for injury or death to painters participating in the paint out. Cary Gallery of Artists reserves the right to use images of the paint out for promotional purposes.

Painting location is anything inside these street boundaries: north/south : Academy St. to Harrison Ave., east/west: Chapel Hill Rd. to Dry Ave.
