The Pastel
Society of North Carolina, formerly the Pastel Society of Orange County,
was formed in 1996 by pastel artist and teacher Lorie Callahan with
12 enthusiastic artists dedicated to creating works in soft pastels,
with the purpose of promoting standards of excellence and to encourage
use of the medium of soft pastels.
Since that time the Society has grown to over 80 members. Through our
many exhibitions, we in the Society share our beautiful pastel creations
with Chapel Hill, Hillsborough, Raleigh, and other communities in the
Triangle and the State. Paintings made by Society members hang in the
private collections of many North Carolina residents and businesses.
The Society holds meetings on a monthly basis during which we have
demonstrations, programs, and critiques. During the year we sponsor
workshops for the improvement of our members.
Online Pastel Demos
Our Society
website contains a page for each of the
Society members who wish to have one. Each page has a short resume,
samples of the artist's work, and contact information. |
